This is what I’m doing.
I’ve known Polly Campbell now for years. First as my writer’s workshop peer and friend and now as her proud editorial assistant who writes for, promotes, and edits Polly’s two podcasts and matching Substack accounts: Simply Write w/ Polly Campbell and Polly Campbell, Simply Said.
I write genre fiction centered around strong millennial women who, when burdened by societal expectations, struggle with asking themselves what they truly want. I am currently seeking literary representation with my first manuscript, WELCOME TO THE AFTERLIFE, as I actively write STUPID, PRETTY, a novel set in the early aughts, and was accepted into StoryStudio Chicago’s 2024–2025 NIAY program—a selective writing cohort.
Please also check out my publication in Y2K Quarterly, a short story titled T9 Dating.
Although I haven’t taken on too many editing projects as of late, when I do, it’s mainly for business folks—that’s my professional background. I write and edit websites, marketing mailers, form letters, cover letters, resumes, one sheets, and presentation slide decks. I do this with the voice of my client in mind, and if that means throwing away proper grammar for catchy fragments, so be it. There’s a time and place for proper semi colon usage.
